Steroids in law enforcement??!

Question: I know a few guys in law enforcement that are on steroids. One police officer and 3 correctional officers. My question is to the people in these professions....do you not get drug tested? How is it that these guys can be on steroids and not get caught?

I take steroids. I have yet to fail a drug test. In these test they test for vary basic things and do not try to find out if you are on steroids.
The main thing they attempt to test for is THC (the special ingredient in marijuana). Any drug test will test for it.
Other common things they test for include methamphetamine, cocaine and opium(opiate).
With steroids, it is hard to test for. The most common and most beneficial steroid used is testosterone. Because this occurs naturally in everyone (yes, even women), it is harder to test for. Generally speaking about positive steroid results, the tester, let us say the NCAA, will test blood to be sure it's normal. The NCAA likes to keep track of a persons health to prevent sports injuries. The test will come back and the doctor will see unusually high testosterone results. Then the doctor will give the player a 24 hour notice of a drug test for steroids. When those test are taken, it is serious. It is not a cheap test, thus the reason they are rarely taken.
The kids in college sports have no business taking these and are held to harsh penalties. Most of these kids don't realize it is cheating and like the results they see. I have no problem with anyone taking steroids if they do it safe. Many college kids don't take them properly and that is why steroids have such a negative reputation here in America. In countries such as England you can have enough on you for yourself for something like six months.

Sorry, I don't know the answer, but I imagine it varies from state to state or country to country how often police/correctional officers are drugs tested.
Re-post this in the Law Enforcement category and you might get a better answer.

because steroids are not tested for. only the basics, thc, cocaine, meth, opiates..... plus, it is almost a given and quietely accepted in those closed knit occupations that steroids are taken and you just overlook it. like a don't ask don't tell thing, but everyone knows...
