It's not a "real" second childhood. Sometimes people use that term when they are acting silly or playing with toys, stuff kids do. It's just a conversational thing.

When I first heard the term "second childhood" (about 40 years ago) it referred to diminished capacity and feebleness (like childhood) seen in very old people. At that time it was called senile dementia, and is now known as Alzheimer's disease. It is not inevitable. Many people remain capable and lucent to their very last day.

The expression may have taken on other meanings in recent years. Some people jokingly say they are going through their second childhood when they find themselves acting foolishly or childishly.

Yes, I believe this to be true. She did have a heart condition. She has got to the place she was like a child. We had to make her put on deodorant and clean herself most of the time we had to do it our self. Watch the clothes she wore. To make sure they match or had on enough or not to much. She would send you to the store with $2.00 and wanted you to get her about 5 items that was over a $1.00 each and wanted change back. She would put her shoes and clothes on wrong. We had to make her eat . She would bite us with her
gum when she got upset. She wouldn't wear her dentures. I guess this was her way of throwing a fit. She was about 60
and died in her late 90s. I had children and had to get on her
and them. She would mess and urinate on herself and tell you after the fact. I could tell you a whole lot more now I don't
have the time.
