Accutane affecting my sex life?!

Question: Accutane affecting my sex life!?
I have been with my current girlfriend for about 8 months!. Our sex life has always been pretty healthy: there was the occasional time where I just didn't "get up," but not very often!. I started Accutane a month and a half ago, and until about one month ago, my sex life continued to be healthy!. Then, for some reason, I started to have trouble more and more often getting a full erection!. The last two weeks have just been awful in terms of sex!. I can never get a full erection when I want to have sex with her and the half-***'ed erection I do get just goes away!. She was understanding at first but now is questioning our relationship!. I'm wondering if it's a side-effect of the Accutane!.

I read that Accutane causes a loss of sex-drive!. I definitely haven't lost my sex-drive and still get several erections daily, many caused by me thinking about sex with her!. So, any ideas if it's the Accutane!? If not, what could be the problem!? I'm highly attracted to her physically!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hi, first and for most you are not alone in the whole accutane thing I'm taking it currently and Ive been taking it about as long as you!. Although i have had none of those side affects personally i can definitely see how it could cause it!. Depression is one of the biggest things our doctors warn us about when we begin taking it!. I personally in my short period taking it can testify to some ruff mood swings and my girl freind is having to be patient with me on it!. Again i haven't had any trouble with my sex life but Ive definitely had some problems with my mood from time to time!. My advise dont freak out it is probably in no way permanent and at this point could be more linked to a psychological issue not the medicine!. Sometimes men cant achieve erections because were to afraid or nervous!. If your girlfriend is putting pressure on you than that could be your issue now not the accutane!. Its definitely not just the medicine!. I think its temporary but if i were you i would talk to my doctor just to be on the safe side!. Wish you the best of luck dude and bare in mind that the vast majority of side affects go away with in a month of the completion of treatment!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

it's most likely the accutane!. when i was in high school i was on that stuff too and i know the side effects of that stuff can be brutal!. i was constantly going to the doctor for blood tests to see if my liver was still functioning correctly and that i wasn't pregnant, i had no appetite, it was hard to concentrate in school and sports, and sex was most definately the last thing on my mind!. try and explain to your girlfriend that the medication you are taking is very strong, to the point where they don't prescribe it to a lot of people (some docs are just nervous about giving it to teens because of the serious side effects)!. let her know that taking the medication is only temporary and that soon things will be back to normal!. hopefully the accutane will work for you the first time and you won't have to go through another cycle (my acne was so bad that i went through 3 cycles total and at one point was taking up to 3 pills a day - it SUCKED)!. all i gotta say is, whatever you do, DON'T go off the accutane! the results are worth it! i took that stuff when i was a sophomore/junior in high school and now, 6 years later, my skin is still great!. just a pimple every once in a while (usually around that time of the month cuz of the extra hormones)!.
so, just let her know it's the medication and that it's temporary and hopefully she'll be understanding and help and support you while you are taking it!. hope this helps!Www@Answer-Health@Com
