Answers:
I don't know about any scientific studies but I do know that my hubby and son wear hard hats at work and often wear motorcycle helmets after work, ball caps in summer and it causes them to get very thin at the temples and look like they have a receding hairline right were the hatband rubs!. I am thinking you could do some permanent damage to the hair follicles from rubbing off the hair on a regular basis!.
It is logical to think it could be damaging the roots or follicles by the constant rubbing and loss of good blood flow from the hat bands!.
My son has a thick head of hair and is only 20 no history of baldness in either of our families and they are the hat junkies so it does make sense the receding and or thinning in my sons case, at the temples is from hats!. i have also noticed in winter when they are inside a lot and don't wear hats 24/7 the hair starts growing back and getting thicker and then they rub it off again all spring and summer!.
I do think hats pull hair out, so I do think the one part about hat wearing on this site is iffy!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Friction and sweating can cause baldness:and that is the effect of wearing a hat!.
