Answers:
If he can move his arm, we are probably talking sprain, not separated!.

There are two different ways to separate the shoulder!.

1!. Acromioclavicular joint separation (AC joint) - It is the junction between the acromion (part of the scapula that forms the highest point of the shoulder) and the clavicle (collarbone)!. The most common mechanism of injury is a fall on the tip of the shoulder or FOOSH (Falls on an outstretched hand)!. The humerous will jam into the joint and do damage to the ligaments that hold it together!.

2!. Glenohumeral joint dislocation - It is a synovial ball and socket joint and involves articulation between the glenoid fossa of the scapula (shoulder blade) and the head of the humerus (upper arm bone)!. Put more plainly, where the humerous goes into the socket!. If this dislocation happens, there will be no doubt!. The humerous coming out of its socket is not a pretty site!. However, a more minor injury would be tears in the ligaments holding the joint together!.

He should go see a doctor!. No matter what was torn up in the accident, the doctor can get him on the right track to healing!. Ths shoulder joint is the most complex joint in the humun body, so getting proper medical care is important!. When this joint gets hurt, it can take a while to heal!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It is not dislocated otherwise he could not move his arm!.
