Yea, wrong category, we know!.

Honestly, it's more complex than that!. You can't just say gas prices go higher because the more we use the less we have!. It is a contributing factor, but you have to look at the other issues!.

There's the fact that OPEC exists!. The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries is a group of oil-rich nations which get together to regulate the export of their resource to nations which are oil-deficient!. It is like the oil company the oil companies have to deal with!. However, there is also the factor that most of the nations of OPEC are not particularly friendly with the United States!. Sounds evil, but admittedly, most of these nations have no other natural resource to utilize!.

We have a great demand for oil, and it is being fed by other nations!. Being that oil is such a valuable resource, it has a great demand, and therefore a tightly controlled supply!. If the bottled water companies had the last clean water left on earth, they wouldn't be charging a buck a bottle!. It is not necessarily a Mad Max scenario, there is plenty of oil left in the world to supply the current world population for at least another 1000 years, although the pollution would kill us all long before then!. The concern is that the larger the human population, the faster that population grows!. We are already crowding many places in the world, and though there is plenty of wide open land left, we can't just use up every square inch!. We need to maintain a balance with our planet!. And therefore the pollution caused by burning oil and it's derivatives constitutes reason for pollution taxes, which drive the cost of oil higher!.

Then, specifically now, we have a war going on!. Begin that we are war with a nation in one of the most oil-rich regions of the world, it introduces an insane new level of complexity to the situation!. We have fragile relations with other nations in the Middle East, and it is very difficult to maintain a good balance politically when we are war in the same region!. It's just like high school, really, when you consider it; you can't really do or say something to someone without it having an effect on others!. And in the real world, there are just so many more things to deal with!.

And then we should also consider the fact that a good number of oil reserves on earth are not being utilized!. Now, land accounts for only 30% of the surface of the earth, and though we have offshore drilling, I'm willing to bet there are plenty more oil reserves out there, deeper than we can reach today!. But as for the oil we know about but are not using, guess where most of it is!. National parks of the United States!. Most of the oil reserves not being drilled are American, and they are nearly all protected by the national parks system!. I'm not saying it's a conspiracy, but that's just because I'm not a conspiracy theorist!. A lot of the concern in the past was in ruining our beautiful land for the sake of oil!. Perhaps today it is still the same, or maybe it is considered a reserve supply!. The United States does already have an emergency oil supply, as piddly as it may be!.

If you want some perspective, you should consider Sierra Leone where average gas prices currently are around $18USD a gallon!. The United States currently has the 46th cheapest gas prices in the world!.

There are many more factors, but I'm no politician, professional driller, or economist!.

What you should be asking is how we can drive the prices back down!. And what we should all be doing is making the political changes we need to advance!. We run this nation, why do we have to complicate every damn election, over-analyze every single issue!? Get rid of the politicians you don't like, get the one's who'll do the right thing!. And if you don't think there are any honest politicians left, get in there and change that!. I know it seem a bit simplistic, but we shouldn't be striving for complexity!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

From what I understand - the credit crunch has caused the economy to weaken, which in turn caused the fed to slash rates, which in turn caused the value of the dollar to fall, which in turn caused speculative investors to pull out of financial institutions and invest in energy, which in turn drives up the cost of energy, which drives up the price of oil!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

people keep blaming the president on things that aren't his fault!. Even last week he was saying that the gas prices are high and he keeps trying to fix it but the democrats put a stop to it!. He wants there to be more places in the U!.S!. to get oil from, which there is plenty but the democrats stop him so it's been really hard to do it!. It's high because we get most of our oil from foreign countries and they keep raising the prices!. It could be a lot cheaper if we drilled for it here in the U!.S!., hopefully it will get better soon!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

first of all when people get coal from the earth to burn into gas, it creates pollution and as more people use coal, oil, and natural gas, the harder it is to get them from mines!.
that makes the demand for gas higher and the prices go higher

hope this helps!!

It's odd!. There is this sudden rise in demand!. More people are getting richer!. But someone's got to make that money!. OPEC denies making money and so do the oil companies!. I wonder who 's making the money!. Speculators on the merchantile exchange!?Www@Answer-Health@Com
