Yes it is very common, actually when guys are in their teens and early 20's - some even later!.

Shower and wash daily!. I would not encourage masterbation until it's gone, nor would I encourage sex!. Simply to be safe and avoid any chance of infection if it should pop!.
If you feel the need to 'pop it' - then have some hydrogenproxide and dab it a couple of times a day to keep it clean and at low risk of infection!.
