My daughter has had both bi-lateral pelvic osteotomies and an external fixator for perthes!.
I would ignore the other two comments - the only real danger with the perthes surgeries is what you would expect from any surgery needing general anaesthetic!. There are other things that specialists will warn you about, but its part of the protocol they need to go through and are extremely rare!.
I set up a site for people with a diagnosis of perthes and also for teens and adults who had it when they were children!. Please feel free to visit the site, read up on all the latest therapies and treatments, go to the message board and make yourself known there too - there is a lot of help and support out there, you just need to ask!.

I did have this, it was really bad, I got the Iggs and perthes when I was about 14, I almost died from it, you better get the surgery ASAP! I'm not even joking, I gotta go back for Calve Perthes surgery in a few months and I'm really scared, but good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com
