Question: 6 year old son curiosity to circumcision!?
my son and his daddy took a shower together yesterday, after the shower he asked me why his daddy's "birdie" is different than his!. I did not answered him and scolded him for asking stupid questions!. by the way, he was uncut and we thought it would be good for him to be uncut!. And his daddy was circumcised!. Did i do the right thing by scolding him!? What should i tell himWww@Answer-Health@Com

No you shouldn't scold him for asking a straightforward question like that! Just say whatever you like - that Daddy's penis is just different, everybody has different genitals, or because he's 6 you could give more info and say that Daddy had his foreskin removed because doctors used to think it was a good idea but now people don't do it so you didn't so it to him!.
I've known people in similar situations and those answers were easily accepted and worked!. He can get more details as he gets older!.

First of all - well done the dad for not getting him cut!. If I was circumcised I would be annoyed and a lot of men are stubborn about having their son's look like them!. They may feel like they are not complete and so may be insecure!. So it could be right to not discuss it if it is a sore subject for your husband!. But you shouldn't really scold your son for asking!. Just tell him the truth - that unfortunately dad was mutilated when he was younger because it was incorrectly believed that it would do the child good!. I don't understand why if the father is circumcised you didn't have him circumcised!. He will probably ask to be circumcised in years to come!.

Be frank with him, in a basic way seeing as he's only 6!. When he's a bit older, get his dad to explain in a bit more detail why they're different, and why you didn't chop his foreskin off!.

you shouldnt have scoulded him!. six year olds are very inquisitive and are only trying to make sense of the world around him!. all you had to do was tell him the difference between his and his fathers penis and explained to him what circumcision is all about!. children are very clever and we dont often give them credit that is due!.!. why you decided not to have your son circumcised is beyond me!!!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com
Next time try taking a more reasonable approach to scolding, explain to him the differences!. When I was young, I asked the same questions!. (I was not circumcised at birth) When I got older I decided to finally have the procedure done!. My only regret is that my parents didn't have me circumcised at birth!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
