I would tell him this,"your penis is natural, and normal!. Daddy had a surgery, to remove that skin, which used to be done to men, but it isn't necessary, and daddy wanted you to be more normal!. That surgery hurts, and daddy didn't want that to happen to you!." I would save further explanations until he is a little older---he should be grateful that he was left normal and naturally intact!. Circumcision ALWAYS destroys penile sensitivity, anywhere from 50% to total insensivity!.
You are good parents for not mutilating your son!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well, at 6 you really dont need to get that complex, just leave it as something like, everyone is born with one, but sometimes have to get it removed!.!.!. and maybeto boost his confidence say but daddy would rather have it back!.

When you son gets older, then you can explain it more clearly!.!.!. people thought it was medically important to have done, but found it isn't so people started to stop doing it to leave the decision up to him, etc, etc!.

EDIT: Dont listen to SurfNY, giving your son a choice was the best thing to do!. Taking that choice away should only be done as a last resort (ie, medical issues), it is his body!. Besides, rates have dropped so the conformity reasons dont really apply as much!. I know a couple people that would gladly get a cosmetic procedure to fit in, but I also know people that wouldn't change it!.

Also, Albert's post was misleading!. Phimosis is where the foreskin cannot retract or is painful to do so because of tightness, but a child wont necessarily be retractible (infants most always aren't because the foreskin is "glued" to the head, breaking this glue forcefully can cause tears that could lead to infection, just clean the outside), for some it will retract only after/during puberty and for all it should be HIM doing the retracting, when he is ready, not someone forcing it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

A little skin of daddy's weewee had to be cut off because it was ill with infection (FYI: balanitis due to stagnating smegma) or because the little skin on top strangled the poor wee wee and caused daddy a lot of pain and discomfort!. (FYI: phymosis)!.
HOWEVER: consider the following : 1) circumcised males never develop cancer of the penis!. 2) Check whether your son does not suffer from a phymosis (whether the foreskin can retrocede all the way)!. Phymosis patients cannot perform intercourse which is not a good idea to discover on your honeymoon!. The operation lasts about half an hour and after the stiches come out the patient is ready for action in about 8 days!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You should have had him circumcised!.!.!.DUH! Now he will get it done in his teens! I did at 18 and would do it again in a heartbeat! Wait until he is in a locker room situation and gets pissed at you for not having it done! You bought into all the anti BS and your kid will now suffer! Your husband should have put his foot down and had his son circumcised!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Just say that at birth, sometimes a little surgery is done!. Most importantly, he needs to know he is O!.K!. You did not need it, son!. I think he wants to be like he daddy!.
Hold him and change the topic after the little short talk!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

6 year olds don't need that much information!. Just tell him all boys look different!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Simply tell him some men have a foreskin and some don't!. He does have the foreskin!. No more need be said!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
