I've had this problem for a few years now and I've never really thought about it too much until it happened while around my dad, and he thought it might be a hernia!.
Sometimes when I stretch my arms up and arch my back after sitting down for awhile (like after a car ride) I get a sharp pain!. The pain starts out in my ab area, then it's like I can feel it go all the through to the tip of my penis!. It's only in what feels like a straight line, it doesn't hurt in the whole region!. It's a very sharp pain, and I can usually feel lasting effects from it for about 5 min!. I'd say it happens once every few weeks!.
I had a physical for college about a year ago and did the whole turn my head and cough thing and he didn't say anything then!. Any ideas on what's going on here!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

With the pain going from your abs to the tip of your penis, it sounds like nerve pain and not likely an inguinal hernia!. There are several types of hernias - femoral, inguinal, incisional etc etc!. Generally, you will have/notice a bulge either in the lower part of your abdomen or in your scrotum if the hernia is an inguinal hernia!. These are problematic if they cause change in bowel habits or become incarcerated/strangulated!.
If you are overweight, you can feel nerve pain in the anterior thigh or scrotum/penis from pinching nerves that run beneath the inguinal ligament!.
If you have had previous abdominal surgery, you could have scar tissue causing the same!.
You should make an appointment with a general surgeon who can rule out a hernia and point you in the right direction!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I don't think it's a hernia!. Hernias will get worse over time!. You probably just pinch a nerve when you stretch!. I've had a hernia before and there is a tear in the abdomen muscle and your intestines will poke through and you will have a noticeable lump where the intestines come through!. I really don't think it's a hernia!.
