Sperm count after vasectomy?!

Question: Sperm count after vasectomy!?
How often should sperm count be checked after a vasectomy!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
I had my vasectomy on March 28, 2008, and my doctor ordered sperm counts at 8 weeks and 12 weeks afterward (so I'm actually due for the first one)!.

After that, it never hurts to get the count checked yearly, because in very rare cases they can reverse themselves!.

Oh, and incidentally, it is VERY important to catch the first squirt, which contains most of the sperm!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Good thing my Dad is a doctor!. If you are going to have a vasectomy, I suggest - and my Dad suggests - that you have a laser vasectomy!. It severs the tubes and cauterizes them!. You only lose 1-5% of the volume of your semen!. You never even notice!. You are absolutely unable to have a child after that!. Also, reconnecting is no problem, but it's very painful, so I don't suggest doing it until you are at least past thirty years of age!. Also, vasectomy is not the answer to preventing venereal diseases, so don't think just because you have one that it means you can become a slut!. Just some advice!. If you live near Gainseville, Florida, you can get this exact procedure done easily and quickly at Shan's Hospital I believe!. Hope that helps!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Normally the doctor will want to see two zero count results before the man is considered sterile!. When I had mine (20 years ago)!. That meant one at 3 months and one at 6 months!.

I have heard that some doctors will opt for three tests over a year!. I think this is because some men are suing for unplanned pregnancies after the surgery is performed!.

Normally after two or three tests are negative for sperm no further tests are required!. However, being a child free person I am cautious beyond that of most people!. To be on the safe side I continued using condoms for about a year after the surgery!. I also get my semen checked for sperm (semen analysis) every 5 years!. I don't take any chances, because I am single, and never want children!. I fear making a baby more than I fear STD!.

Edit: I hear that some doctors are recommending yearly checks!. I think that is a bit excessive!. Maybe that is because some of the "high tech" vasectomy techniques are not as reliable as the "old school" techniques!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
