Answers:
The protein drinks won't hurt, if your kidneys are OK but they won't help!.
Didn't your doc or pt give you any exercises to do while healing!? If not there are simple ones on the net that will help maintain, but not grow, your calf muscle!.
Growth of the muscle comes from stressing and injuring the muscle fibers, as they repair they grow!. Having enough protein is essential for that repair!. Eating is the best way to get your protein but as long as you can afford it drinking a protein shake is OK!. If you are a guy stay away from soy protein, it is no good for you!. Whey and albumin are just fine!.
The only time you need extra protein after an injury is when you are severely burned, stabbed, shot and such!. Then the body starts to catabolize your muscle to repair the injury!. That is not true with a sprain!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
