Good question ! It does help , but you should do it for considerably longer period , what happens is when you start doing aerobic exercises , all the glycogen in the blood is used for the exercises and only when the glycogen is consumed , body starts using the fat accumulated on tummy , hips , thighs etc!. So plan your exercise in such a way that you start seeing the effect on the fat layers otherwise increase the time for which you are doing the aerobic exercises!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Any aerobic exercises done reduces body fat throughout the body!. Yes, tummy included!. You use your abs primarily in every excercise, since keeping the back straight is essential!.

However, targeting the stomach muscles, by performing situps, crunches, and other ab exercises, you are toning the muscles in this area!.

Basically, Aerobic exercises DO help reduce tummy fat!. Yet it is the isometric exercises that tone the tummy muscles!.

Just remember, the isometric exercises, do nothing with out the aerobic workouts!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Aerobic exercise is the way to lose weight!. Exercise that is in the fat-burning zone would work too!. You would take 220-age to get your target heart rate!. Times this number by 65%-80%!. 65% is the lowest your heart rate can be at if you want to lose weight and 80% tops it!.

There is the theory of spot reduction that would best be able to explain why aerobic exercises help the most!. You could put it in wikipedia and get this:

"Spot reduction, or spot reduction myth is the false belief [1] that exercising a specific muscle will result in a decrease in the amount of fat in the area surrounding that muscle!. A common example of this is focusing on abdominal exercises in an effort to lose weight in or around one's stomach!.

Spot reduction is a myth and has no scientific basis!. Fat is burned from body areas in genetically pre-determined patterns and has no relationship to the nearby muscles being exercised!. For men, abdominal fat is generally the last to go!. Women store more fat in their thighs and buttocks!."Www@Answer-Health@Com

what reduces it is losing weight!. the roll is stored fat, and only by reducing your weight will that roll go away!. working the muscles beneath will make them bigger and stronger, but they will still be covered in a layer of fat until you lose weight!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Aerobics are great for your heart and weight, but if you want to target your abs, do crunches!. Allot of them every day, after 6 weeks, you'll start to see a difference!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
