Why does my 14 year old son have swollen nipples?!
Question: Why does my 14 year old son have swollen nipples!?
He has had this for at least 2 years!. We did have it checked out by the Doc when it first occured and he said it was just part of puberty!. Well it has been a couple years now!. he is a thing kid!.!.!.not an ounce of fat, very good shape!. So what could this be!? Should it last this long!?!? It doesn't really bother him unless he gets pinched or poked in that area!.!.!.which really, how often does that happen!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

It is part of the puberty process!. Getting all those hormones in just the right amounts can be a little tricky sometimes, and the glands in the breast of men do respond to hormones just like womens do!. Just different types of hormones involved!. According to my pediatric nursing books, some 2/3 of boys develop a certain amount of breast tissue at different points during puberty- and it most often evens out in the end!. At the beginning of puberty, boys do have a bit more body fat that a fully grown adult male!. That tends to lessen as the muscle pattern of an adult male develops- and he begins to take on more of a male body, while leaving the child body behind!. Breasts naturally are areas of higher fat, and there are cases where a boy can develop a bit more than he'd like!. It's got nothing to do with his sexuality- it's a genetic thing in most cases!. Nipples of both sexes are wired to react to stimulation or injury- so his reaction is also normal!. As long as he's not bothered by it, it's not a problem!. Try not to worry about it either, as your concern can worry him unnecessarily!. Honestly, it does all work out in the end!. Everyone is lumpy bumpy in the process, boys too!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Well as you are obviously aware puberty is a process and not just an overnight occurrence so therefore the doctors diagnosis could still be accurate even after a couple of years
However that should not stop you going back and asking for another look !. Your son may just be unlucky that he is suffering this issue for longer than others in his peer group

hormones, his testosterone levels are so high during puberty the estrogen levels go up a little to even the ratio out!. happens to me!. so he experiences small female puberty

my son went through that!. it really is part of puberty!. its a hormone thing!. i think my son grew out of that by 16!. not to worry!. alot of boys are like that!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
I am also very thin and this happened to me but it is a normal part of puberty for boys :)Www@Answer-Health@Com
