Research it well; it's a permanent surgery if you do it!. So if he doesn't like it, he's screwed!. Below are some studies to help you too!. Circumcision has become less common, for good reasons!.

By leaving a boy uncircumcised, if he's not satisfied with it he can always get cut and end up satisfied in the end!. One survey found that about half of circumcised guys would have preferred to had made the decision themselves:

Circumcision has become less common!. Circumcision rates were as high as 90% back in the 1960s and 1970s (that's partly why today's adults are so!.!.!. brainwashed, I supposed you could say, about thinking that circumcision is better) but they have fallen to as low as 14% in some states!. Here are the statistics:
http://www!.cirp!.org/library/statistics/U!.!.!.

The USA is the last developed nation doing it to a large number of newborns without religious or medical needs!. (Europeans, Latin Americans, Japanese, and most Australians, Canadians, and Asians don't circumcise):

Christianity doesn't ask for circumcision, either!. In fact, sections of the Bible are harsh against circumcision, and the Catholic Church even condemned the surgery:

In a medical study, it was found that females are more likely to hit orgasm with an uncircumcised man:
http://www!.healthcentral!.com/drdean/408/!.!.!.

The lubricated foreskin (on the inside!.!.!. like your eyelids) slides up and down during sex and masturbation to stimulate the head (which is why you don't hear of uncircumcised guys needing lube to masturbate)!.

Studies have found that circumcision reduces sensitivity (this article also mentions how it has lost popularity in the USA in recent times):
http://www!.foxnews!.com/story/0,2933,2855!.!.!.

And despite being more sensitive, uncircumcised guys still last in the same six minute range (average) that circumcised guys do:

Circumcision makes masturbation more difficult:
http://www!.blackwell-synergy!.com/doi/abs!.!.!.

Which makes sense, that's how circumcision was promoted in the USA:

Increases erectile dysfunction rates:
http://www!.ncbi!.nlm!.nih!.gov/sites/entrez!.!.!.

If too much skin is removed in circumcision, it can make the penis smaller since the penis needs some skin to expand during an erection:

http://www!.altermd!.com/Penis%20and%20Scr!.!.!.

And circumcised boys have a 10% chance of acquiring meatal stenosis, which is when the opening of the urethra (pee hole) closes up and needs surgery to reopen!. (compared to a 1 in 100 chance for UTI, for example)

There's pain involved, often why doctors don't want you in the room when it's done:

(you can search online for a circumcision video, too)

Circumcision does not completely stop penile cancer!. The American Cancer Society has already confirmed the myth that circumcision = no cancer!.
http://www!.cancer!.org/docroot/CRI/conten!.!.!.

If circumcision did stop penile cancer, then penile cancer would not be more common in the USA (most circumcised adults) than in some European nations, where circumcision is not practiced other than for medical/religious reasons!.
http://www!.circumstitions!.com/Cancer!.htm!.!.!.

And a new study found that circumcision does not reduce your chances to get HIV/AIDS!. Unlike other studies, this one was done in a developed nation; the USA!.

Of course, there are other risks associated, but those are typically the ones due to surgery!. You can research it more here:

As far as cleaning goes, it's really simple!. For the first years in life the foreskin doesn't pull back!. That prevents stuff like poo/fecal matter from touching the head!. Later on all it takes it 5 to 10 seconds to pull the foreskin back and rub the head; it even feels good!.

You are absolutely doing the right thing by not getting him circumcised!.

You are correct in thinking it is a cosmetic procedure!. That is the main reason most health insurance companies don't cover it anymore!.

This is what some major medical organizations say of circumcision:

AAP (USA): "The procedure is not essential to the child's current well-being!."

NHS (UK): "It is not routinely performed in the UK because there is no clear clinical evidence to suggest that it is has any medical benefit!."

CPS (Canada): "We recommend that circumcision of newborns should not be routinely performed!."

RACP (Australia): "After extensive review, the RACP reaffirms that there is no medical indication for routine neonatal circumcision!."

A few decades ago, it was thought it be beneficial so most boys (80%) were circumcised, including your husband!.
However, nowadays, only 50% of American newborns are circumcised, so when he's growing up he will NOT be in a minority and will not be made fun of!Www@Answer-Health@Com

The pros are none for himself, as your husband is worried, its gonna make the other kids more comfortable not having one that is different!. He will be able to last longer in sex without having to learn to control ejaculation, which again is only good for others, because in fact he is gonna lose sensibility, possibly leading to lack of interest in sex later in life!. While learning tantra will give him the greatests pleasures, and even multiple orgasms (yes we can do it) but loosing sensilbility sex will never be that great!. If he end up living in the streets, unable to bath then he will be less prone to infections (many doctors argument), but soap and water is much better!. It can leave awful scars, google it, which will be less prone if he decides to do it for himself later!. You have the very same estructure in your body, imagine getting it mutilated (as in many other societies where women have it done too) and your clitoris touching daily the underwear, in a couple of years sex is not gonna as fun as it used to!. Mutilate an innocent to please society is sad!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Leave him intact and natural, as nature intended him to be!. This isn't your decision or your husband's decision!. The penis belongs to your son and it should rightly be his choice to make when he's old enough to understand it!.

Leaving him intact is more beneficial!. Cutting off part of his anatomy will leave him scarred, maybe even psychologically so!. Up to 1/3 of the men in the US who were circumsized as a baby are not happy about it and resent their parents for having it done!. You need to research the functions of the foreskin!. I think you'd be highly surprised how important that piece of "excess skin" is!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

well u lose sexual feeling with a circumcision but it's so much easier to keep clean and less bacteria get's in there and my friend tells me his foreskin can get relli relli annoying but it's not like it's a life or death thing u know!.!.!.i like being circumcised just cuz it's easier to deal with!.!.!.and no he wont be made fun of either way!.!.and relli it doesnt matter whatever u think but for hygene getting circumsized is better!.!.!.and i think most girls like it when they are circumsized!.!.!.so keep that in mindWww@Answer-Health@Com

I was circumcised at 18 and would do it again in a NY minute! Do not believe all the antis and the lies about loss of sensativity, its all BS! I can assure you that it is much cleaner, proven healthier for both partners, looks better and finally (not that he has to worry about it for the next dozen or so years) sex is greatly improved! I had no hesitation circumcising my son's (1&3) as I know there is no downside, only a lifetime of benefits!Www@Answer-Health@Com

My parents choose not to have me circumcised when I was born also!. I grew up always wondering why they didn't have have me circumcised at birth!. When I was 19 I finally decided enough was enough and choose to get circumcised!. Afterwards myself confidence has shot through the roof!. I only wish my parents had me circumcised when I was born!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

ooh!! just the other day there was an article in the paper about this!!

the only thing that really stuck with me was that there was a recent study that proved circumcision reduces penile sensitivity by 75%!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

GET HIM CUT!. HE WONT be able to find a girl later!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Would you subject yourself or your daughters to a female circumcision!? No!? Because it's mutilation!? RIGHT!!!
It's just the same for males; circumcision is male genital mutilation and a violation of the basic human right to a whole and intact body!!!

His body, his choice!!

A foreskin is not a birth defect!!!

Circumcision destroys at least 50% or more of sexual sensitivity and also decreases penile size!. Sensitivity continues to decrease thoughout the victim's lifetime, and that is one of the reasons Viagra is most widely used in the US!.

Circumcision destroyed my sex life (I lost more sensitivity than most) and it is my goal in life to help prevent the mutilation of others through enlightening people!.

Circumcision has two benefits:

1!. To the doctors' bank accounts, and

2!. To the minority religious groups that many doctors belong to and are influenced by which try to impose this mutilation on as many males as they can!. That is why it became so widespread in the US!. 80% of the men in the world are intact and are happy to be so!. Their partners are also, look at the birth rates!!

Complications of this barbaric and cruel practice are generally suppressed, so as not to discourage others!. Roughly 10% of circumcisions require additional surgeries to attenpt to repair damage from the first one!.

Medical News Today had a report on June 9, 2008 from the Annual Meeting of the American Urological Associan:

NEWBORN CIRCUMCISION; THE CONTROVERSY REVISITED

" The jury is still out, but the take home message was that circumcision is not without its complications and one of these complications is death!."
" It appears to be a RISKY proccedure with TRULY LITTLE MEDICAL INDICATION in the newborn period!."

---Annual Meeting of the American Urological Association (AUA) May 17-22,2008 Orange County Convention Center-Orlando, Fla!. www!.urotoday!.com

They didn't even go into the many complications, including gangrene, catastrophic infection (MRSA), skin bridges, accidentally amputated glans, urethral stenosis and more!.

Incidentally, an infants' or toddlers' foreskin should NEVER be forcibly retracted; it causes phimosis, due to scarring of the foreskin opening!. It is not necessary to retract to clean;
Contact NOCIRC for more details!.

Please leave him normal and natural and intact, for his own sake!. I'll never forgive my own parents or the medical profession for mutilating me!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

no pros, no cons!. only if you dont want grandkids will you not get him circumcised!. (girls point of view)Www@Answer-Health@Com
