1) osmosis gradient is not right and so less water is absorbed than should be
2) an infection in the intestines means that less water is absorbed and so more water passes through with the faeces

Normally food travels through your body as semi-solids in order to get maximum absorption of nutrients!. The main reason I believe you will experience diarrhea when you are ill is the body trying to flush out the poison or infection !. Hopefully you feel relief right after!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
