I would definitely advise you not to circumcise!. It is unnessecary, painful, and not without serious risks!. Christianity does NOT require circumcision!. That was old testament, Paul, in the new testament, declares circumcision obsolete!. For more information about Christianity and circumcision check http://catholicsagainstcircumcision!.org/ and
http://en!.wikipedia!.org/wiki/Circumcisio!.!.!.

Here is some more information, with links, to help you make your decision!.!.!.!.

First, only 50% of boys nationwide are circumcised!. You may actually find that your son is in the minority in the locker room if you cut him!. (I don't advocate making this decision on those grounds, but if you were leaning towards doing it because you don't want him to be "different", you should know that the boys will be pretty evenly split between cut and intact and noone will think intact is weird)

Second, it is VERY painful to an infant!. Most doctors still don't use any anesthesia, those that do rarely offer adequate anesthesia because the only stuff that works is not safe enough to use in infants for such a "minor" procedure!. Further, some of the pain meds offered to infants aren't even reccomended for use on babies! Further, some doctors argue that it has beenb done "for thousands of years" without anesthetic- what they neglect to tell you is that a medical circumcision can take over 15 minutes to complete!. A Jewish ritual circumcision, by contrast, takes under 60 seconds to complete (and the bay is given wine) Here is some info on the pain!.!.!.!.!.

http://www!.circumcision!.org/response!.htm
http://www!.cirp!.org/library/pain/taddio2!.!.!. (note in this one that even infants offered pain meds for the procedure showed signs of post traumatic stress!)

You should also know that studies have shown that the most sensitive parts of the male anatomy of ON the foreskin- NOT the head of the penis!. By cutting off the foreskin, you remove a mans most errogenous genital tissue!. Here is a study about that!.!.!.!. (note that other studies found no difference, but they neglected to test the sensitivty of the foreskin- they only tested the glans penis of intact and cut men and didn't pay any attention to the foreskin at all) http://www!.nocirc!.org/touch-test/touchte!.!.!.

You should know that infant boys are EASIER to care for when they are intact!. The foreskin does not retract until late childhood or even puberty, so you do nothing special, just wipe the outside of his penis clean and leave it alone!. In a cut boy he will be extremely sensitive for a few weeks because the head of the penis is raw and exposed (they have to tear the foreskin off of the head in infants, it is naturally fused)!. During this time you will need to keep it VERY clean and may need to cover the wound with vaseline and guaze!. Furthermore, to prevent painful and bleeding erections later in life, doctors are now commonly leaving more skin behind- in a cut boy this means you may have to push the left over skin back at every diaper change and clean beneath it to prevent it from readhereing or infecting!. The very thing that mother's think they avoid by circumcising! In short-

Intact = wipe like a finger, NEVER retract
Cut= vaseline, clean thoroughly, push back remaining skin to prevent adhesions etc (the last step perhaps for several months or years)

Here is an excellent tutorial on the basics of intact care and circumcision!.!.!.!.

Another factor in your decision is that circumcised boys experience a 12% increase in their risk of MRSA infection!. MRSA is commonly picked up in hospitals (where circumcision is performed in non-sterile conditions) and has been known to kill adults!. I wouldn't want to deal with it in an infant!. Also, 12% is a BIG risk, the risk of a boy "needing" a circ later in life is WELL below that- under 1%!. http://www!.nocirc!.org/publish/12-Answers!.!.!.

The so called "benefits" of circumcision are generally trumped up!. A big one now is that it "prevents" AIDS!. All the studies showing "benefits" like this have been poorly designed and inconclusive!. Also, for every study that finds a "benefit" there are more studies that find no benefit!. http://www!.icgi!.org/

It is rather eye-opening to see how circumcision first became popular in the US to begin with!. It was virtually unknown in this country until the 20th century!. This slideshow takes you through the rise of circumcision!.!.!.!. http://youtube!.com/watch!?v=f4unKTMpBGA

Finally, you should watch a video or two of the procedure so you are fully informed of what your infant will go through!. I will warn you that these are graphic!. If you can't handle watching them as an adult, why would you expect your infant son to endure them!?

There are two main methods for circumcision here is one of each-

Gomco Clamp- note that the father is in the room, and the doctor claims to have used anesthesia (although whether or not he did is debateable, and he is dissmissive about the whole idea) http://video!.google!.com/videoplay!?docid=!.!.!.

Plastibell- I include this because some parents will have you believe it is "painless" or "requires no cutting/blood" I'll let you judge for yourself!.!.!.!.!.

Congrats on the new addition! I'm sure given all the facts, you'll make the right decision for your son!. :) -NebWww@Answer-Health@Com

I believe in circumcision and had both of my boys circumcised at 8 days old!. Mine is not a religious belief it is strictly a personal preference as I believe it is cleaner,healthier and more aesthetically appealing!.Both of my boys are glad they are circumcised and wouldn't have it any other way, my youngest son is 14 and has a friend who is uncircumcised and is begging his parents to allow him to get circumcised!. Yes a man can get circumcised but it is a long healing process in bed about 6-8 weeks!. ~~Aloha and Best Wishes with your Decision~~Www@Answer-Health@Com

I am totally against it!. It cuts on a nerve which decreases sensitivity compared to an uncircumcised male!. The foreskin is there for a reason; to protect!. As far as health and cleanliness, it needs to be washed anyway!
I also think it is a cruel act to do on a baby's welcoming into the world!. It's a lack of acceptance!. It's painful!.
As far as Christianity, we are freed from the law; remember!? I hope you feel you can bring your son into the world just as he is!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

men can get circumsized later in life, but it tends to take longer for healing!. personally I was circ as a baby, im fine, I'm actually glad my mother did it, the penis doesnt really need the extra skin, and it's easier to clean, as in all operations there is a small risk of infection, but probably nothing to worry about, see youre doctor concerning that!. I don't think christianity requires you to be circ, but I don't think they have anything against itWww@Answer-Health@Com

there is absolutley no benifit to being uncircumcised and there are alot of problems that can happen later like phimosis, infection, more open to contract STD's and young boys are not good about keeping it clean!.
I dont base my thoughts on circumcision on my religous beliefs but the bible commands circumcision Genisis 17:9-14 and yes he can do it as an adult but Please have him circumcised as a newborn its the best choice and much easier than later in life!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

There are a lot of fools out here on this forum and they are mainly Americans that have been unknowingly brain washed by the media into thinking circumcision is the way to go!. But take this from a man in America who is uncircumcised that you will be making a huge mistake to go through with this operation!. I'm intact and it is much better to have your foreskin mainly for pleasure purposes!. I am very happy with being uncut!. There is nothing to be gained from circumcision , only loss!. Seriously , just don't!. Your son will feel the same way!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

I wish my parents hadn't, when I found out about it I read everything I could, I know tons of information about and have read both pro and anti circumcision websites, I really wanted to believe it was good, but the truth just isn't there, you see and hear all these claims but if you ask for the actual study nobody has them or they are so old and used invalid techniques and would not even be considered for publishing, I wanted to believe it was good but if you look at both sides, circumcising without an immediate medical need makes no sense at all!. I later did foreskin restoration restoring what was left (they do leave some foreskin) but it's not all restorable, but what I was able to get back was great!. but this came at a price, I can no longer see circumcision as cosmetic or as if it does not really matter, things that I thought were normal I only realized were problems after I restored and no longer had them, sexual enjoyment is way up!. I can't imagine how much better the real thing is!.

people have said in relation to sexual pleasure
intact=10
cut=3
restored=7

and from my experience I agree with the cut/restored numbers

let your son have an entire penis, he only has one life to live, only one chance to feel the full sexual pleasure, if you circumcise him he will never be able to experience it

Christianity has never endorsed circumcision as a requirement, it was recommended religiously in the victorian era when masturbation was considered "unclean" as it reduced pleasure and was thought to reduce masturbationWww@Answer-Health@Com

if you plan on circumcizing your son do it when he's born even a one year old needs to be put under for the surgery!.!.!.and the recovery is worse!. It poses less of a risk for infections, but if you decide not to he'll be fine too!. You'll just have to clean him better!. either way you'll make a good decisionWww@Answer-Health@Com

The only reason that i have heard not to circumcise is that the sensation is greater!.

As far as cleanliness goes, i think circumcision is a much better way to go!.

I think that not having him circumcised would be more of a psychological issue!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

i am defiantly not a fan!. just as long he pules the skin back when he showers and pees he will be clean, and a much happier man!. my brother was circumcised at 16 and he hates it because the head is not sensitive at all!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

I wouldn't have it done!. It's a myth that it's healthier!. And I have a seriously difficult time believing that it's not painful!. That's where they have the most nerves!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Circumcision lessens the risk for infection in that area!. I am cut and very happy!. It might hurt your son later on in life!!!

Hmm tricky subject as far as I can see there is no benefit to circumcision,just do what you think is best for your son!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

I am circumcised and do not like it!. I would have liked it much better if my parents left me uncircumcised!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Circumcise your son!. He will not want to do it when he is older!. And a lot of women will freak when they see it otherwise!.

And they should!. It is healthier both people!. The health benefits of circumcision were identified in the earliest days of science, it was even documented in the bible!.

Some people pefer uncut, but it seems to be a fettish sort of thing!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's better for the child when they are younger!. It becomes more painful later on!. The sooner done the better!. Plus, many male children feel more confident being circumsized!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

it's healthierWww@Answer-Health@Com
