Yes it is normal to be taller than your Dad; you may be getting your height genetics from someone else in your family (either mother's or father's side)!.
I am 6'2", and my Dad is around 5'9"
I was taller than him when i was around 15 years old!.

Yep, don't know when it was, or how much by (I've never met him, was only told I was taller) but yep I'm taller!.
It's natural for offspring to be bigger than the parents, just a part of evolution, almost everyone you ask will be taller than their tallest parent (with the possible exceptions of one parent being very short and the other very tall)Www@Answer-Health@Com
