Guys why would you bump a girl on her shoulder and always stare at her?!

im a senior in highschool and there is this one guy who i hardly know he would always be staring at me from far away but when i am near him he would act like he doesnt even see me!. this has gone on for over one year and has happened quite a few times!. i always ignored his stare except one time he caught me off guard and we held eyecontact longer than normal!. today i had one class with him and everyone was standing waiting for their seat assignments and as he was walking by he bumped me on the shoulder and back with his shoulder or something and kept walking!. last year he chose to sit behind me in class we had together when nearly the whole room was open and i was in the back!. but i moved because i could see back there!.!.!.i think he likes me, am i interpreting his hints correctly or no!? i like him too!. he has never approached me to talk but he watches me have conversations with people from afar!. im shy, so i dont want to approach him, but i have a feeling he wants me to!. he is loud and outgoing around his friends but seems like the type who is shy around new people!. hes popular and knows everyone and im not, im kinda shy and was new to the school!. does he like me!?
