How do I train for gymnastics?!


Question: How do I train for gymnastics!?
I'm a fourteen-year-old male freshman, pretty skinny!. (5'5", 94 lbs!.) I'm not very strong, but I want to join gymnastics in March for the high school team!. Also, sometime in November I'm going to do some teen gymnastics program at my local park district!. I need to know what I can start doing to prepare and be great at it, how to exercise, what to exercise, etc!. I already asked this question in the fitness section but nobody responds!. Wow- I haven't met many guys interested in doing gymnastics!. I wish we had a guys team at our school!. That is so cool!. Anyways-

Improve flexibility with splits and all types of stretches!. I am pretty sure you need to build up A lot of upper body strength!. Try doing ankle and wrist rehab exercises to strengthen those areas!. Push upss,bench pressess, and handstands will really help you out!. Having a strong core is also really important, so do crunches, sit ups, and V-sits like crazy!. Work on gymnastics skills like handstands, cartwheels,back handspringss, flips etc, You can prepare by watching youtube videos of Men's gymnastics (hs and olympic level) to see what to expect

Alright!. I was a competitive gymnast for many years, and here's the deal:

Gymnastics makes you strong pretty much everywhere!. I mean, you will come home from workouts sore in places you haven't ever been sore in!.

Once you join, you will probably shape up really fast, but if you want to be ahead, start working out now!. Do a lot of strength exercises!. Eat healthier, and drink water!. Try to become flexible, too!. (That will really help you not get hurt!.)
