I want to know if masturbating is a sin?!

Question: I want to know if masturbating is a sin!?
Im Christian!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
According to the Catholic priests who instructed me, it becomes a sin when it involves lust!.
Personally, I don't think of it as a sin at all!.
I tend to look at it this way, God made males to be ejaculation machines, it is our job to provide the seed that fertilizes the woman's egg, in order for this to happen we need to have healthy, new and productive sperm!. For this to happen the old sperm has to be released to make way for the new, which is being made constantly, by the way!. If the sperm is not released by sex or masturbation it will happen while you sleep, this is called a nocturnal emission, or "wet dream"!. So, why would God make you to be this way then condemn you for it!?
I am not telling you to start or continue to masturbate, or to stop for that matter!. That is something you will have to decide all on your own!. But if you think it is sinful, then it is, at least for you, if you don't, then it isn't!.
Being brought up in a strict Christian environment has probably conditioned you to feel guilty after you masturbate, but why feel guilty over something that is normal and natural!?
In short, you are just going to have to come to terms about this for yourself, if you decide to continue, try to learn to let that feeling of guilt go!. If you decide to stop, that too is a valid choice!. You have to do what you believe is right for you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No, its not a sin!.

From the perspective of evangelical theology ( let me note I am NOT evangelical -- I would never go backwards) it can't be a sin, since it was never mentioned in "holy scripture" - the idea that it is the sin of Onan, which is the ONLY defense that an evangelical can make is silly, and simply demonstrates the INCREDIBLE lack of knowledge of sex that most evangelicals have!. The "sin" of Onan was railroading -- or more importantly, disobeying God when ordered to have sex with his brothers wife!.

From any other Christian perspective, it simply isn't logical!. All of the arguments were disproved long ago!. Sin from the perspective of most non-evangelical Christians is harming someone!. Masturbation not only doesn't harm anyone, it is very healthy and helps (for example helping to prevent prostate cancer!.)

Enjoy!.

Hermes

There is no definitive Christian answer - churches vary, and people's views vary within the same denomination!. This is the best comment I know - be sure to read it ALL THROUGH, as the beginning is a bit confusing:

Masturbating is very good for your health - see links below - and for me, as a Christian, that is decisive; I believe a loving God wants us to look after our health!. Porn is a different matter - I'm sure that's wrong, and most Christians think so too!.

i'm a catholic and my church would say yes!.!.!.but its one of the many things in the catholic church that are considered not "core" beliefs so its sort of debatable!. every church is different though!. not all churches are so tolerant!. i don't consider it a sin, but that's for you to decide!. if your church thinks its a sin and you don't well then what they don't know can't hurt them!. have fun!. Yes and no!.

Lust and pornography is a sin!.

Masturbation is not!.

The Catholic church doesn't advise it, because it could lead to sex before marriage, but they don't necessarily say it's a sin!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
