A Vasectomy Question?!
Question: A Vasectomy Question!?
My husband is going to a vasectomy consultation in about 10 minutes!. He's looking at having it done at the end of January, about 6 weeks after our son is due!.
How long does it take for vasectomies to take full effect!? Is there a certain number or weeks or ejaculations, or what!?
What can he expect and does he need to return for a followup!?
(I know he'll probably be given this information, but I won't be there, which is why I'm asking)Www@Answer-Health@Com

Every doctor has a different opinion on that one!. I am no doctor, but I had a vasectomy!. Here is what I think:
I am child-free, so I was very serious about getting a vasectomy and it working!. I used condoms for almost a year after getting my vasectomy!. I know that is overkill, but I refused to take chances!. You might not like using condoms, but lets face it; An unplanned pregnancy is serious!. Just buy the high quality brand name condoms!.
Edit: Then continue taking the pill for about a year!. The risk is too high!. I have heard of pregnancies happening up to 6 months after a vasectomy!. Oh, one more thing!. I get my semen checked, for sperm every five years!.
Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

From memory and don't quote me on this, as it was over 20 years ago I had it done, but before I had it done they took a sample of my semen to test it then when I had the vasectomy it was about a month later I had to go back two have my semen tested again, I do remember one thing very clearly though which may help, is the bruising after it, I found and don't laugh, that using an un opened bag of frozen peas really helped!.this was in Australia and I'm assuming your in the US, but I don't know if they do things the same way over there as there are different ways the doctor can do it!. anyway I hope this is of some help to you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
I don't know if it's effective right away, but he won't want to have sex right away!.!.!. he'll have to wait for a little while (one of my friends got one, and he had difficulty sitting down, so let alone the rest)
If it's a temporary one know that, in the event he gets it reversed, his fertility might decrease of 15%

it only takes a few minutes to do in the office!. they will tell him to wait 10days for sex, and they will have him bring a sample in to have checked in usually around three weeks!. basicly they warn to use protection until it is confirmed!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
I hear tell, a month, and then there are followup tests to confirm the procedure was completely effective!. Why wait!? What is the benefit from waiting as opposed to having the procedure NOW!? Www@Answer-Health@Com
He will have a fallow up appointment where a sperm count will be done to check and see if it was effective!. YANK YANK! and know i think i would just wait until after the appointment and look at the fliers he will have!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
You need to have the seminal fluid tested for volatile sperm approx 20 ejaculations after the vasectomy!. If not confirmed by testing, there is still the risk of pregnancy!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
doc told me 8 weeks first test if clear then second test at 12 weeks
if clear again then it's declared sterileWww@Answer-Health@Com
