ICE, lots of ice, for 20 minutes at a time!. Try to be gentle, you don't want to knock him out of action for a couple weeks! Don't give him a reason to pull up lame!.

Take 2 popsicle sticks or a ruler (you know for size and all) and wrap it with an ace bandage like a splint!. Now for the first 48 hours you should put ice on the injury and then after put heat!. I do recommend some motrin for the swelling and a couple of shots of liquor or beer for the pain!.
