what's a prostate exam!. i'm 17 and my doctor talked of me getting my prostate exam sometime in the years to come!. i saw on Family Guy that the doctor stuck his finger up Peter's crotch!. IS THAT WHAT THEY DO!!?!!?!!?! i am seriously nervousWww@Answer-Health@Com

A rectal exam is a real pain in the rear!. Yes the doctor puts on a glove and, hopefully uses a bit of lubricant, and inserts his finger up your anus!. Often you are standing with your legs apart and leaning on the exam table him behind you!.
He can move his finger around inside your rectum and can feel the prostate through your intestinal wall!. He can feel it well enough to feel it it's smooth or has lumps or is out of shape!. He can only feel the back and most of the sides and can't get around to the front of it!.
This test gives him a good idea/picture of the size, shape and any irregularities of the prostate!.
You don't need a prostate exam until you hit the other side of 40 or if you notice things going wrong with your urine flow!.

Yes, in a prostate exam a doctor will put on gloves, lube his finger, and inserts it into your rectum!. Generally unless you have a family history of prostate cancer or other colon cancers you usually dont start getting prostate exams until you are around 40!. However, its nothing to worry about, its slightly unpleasant but over quickly and its a lot better than having a painful slow death!. Man up and do it if you need one!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
its where a nurse comes in the room and snaps on some rubber gloves and sticks the index and middle finger in your anus and penetrates you until you release a your interior glands and they analyze the fluid for the exam!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
