Question: Do doctors "revise" their knowledge!? What ensures their knowledge is up to date!?
New discoveries are constantly being made and some being made after a med students become doctors!. And of course these med students need to go to school to learn stuff, but if these discoveries were made after they did their education, how do they learn about them!? Are they tested after becoming doctors!? I don't think there will be such significant breakthroughs happening overnight, but still, how do they know about them or are they even up to date with modern knowledge!? I'm just considering my doctor who is pretty old!. Would he not have as much knowledge or a thorough understanding of new discoveries as new, yound doctor!? What ensures they are kept up to date!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
every few years they take a boards exam to keep their license!. Also like other licensed health professionals, they must take continuing education classes to maintain their license!. If you're doctor is old and you're not confident in him then find a new one!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Like other scientists, doctors read journals that have articles from other doctors in their field of study, to keep up to date with developments in their field!. Sometimes they go to special lectures or seminars where new developments are published and discussed!. They argue with each other about the meaning and validity of new research in the field (part of the scientific process)!. They also hear about developments from other doctors in their field, so the new knowledge spreads fairly rapidly!. The rest of us don't see it, because we're not plugged into those information sources, but it still goes on!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
