Im also 5'9 and Im 20!. Its not short or tall, its kind of in the "grey area!." Its about average!.

The worldwide average height for males is 5'8!.
I too wonder if its short or average, as it feels somewhat short most of the time!. At a bar, night club, or college, 5'9 will typically be a bit on the short side!. But as a whole, it is definately not short!.
