Question: How to avoid getting head lice.?
Okay my high school has headlice going around and I would like to know how to avoid getting lice and if there is anything i could do or wear so i do not get lice. because i am going on a cruise in less then 2 weeks

Answers:

Do not wear or try on anyone's clothing, hats, scarves, coats, jerseys -- NOTHING!
Lice don't jump, they crawl; they can live on sheets & bedding, fabric, carpet, car seats, stuffed animals, fabric-covered furniture, even bookbags. Wash your hair every day. Lice prefer clean, straight hair but no one is immune & not washing your hair will definitely not prevent lice.

The most important thing to do is to have someone (who knows what they're looking for) check your head/hair/scalp *daily* when you get home from school; check for live bugs (they can be hard to see) and nits (google images will show what they look like). If you don't see any bugs but you do see some nits, then you should treat yourself (follow directions for re-treating so that you kill any newly hatched lice after 1st treatment).

If you are unsure by the time of your cruise, you can always use an OTC lice treatment 2-3 days before you board.

RN & mom who dealt with two second graders who had lice!

Go to the store and buy Tea Tree Oil, it comes in a little bottle, put like 4-5 drops of it in your shampoo, lice hate that stuff. They put it in a lot of dog shampoo's to help reduce the risk of fleas, it will essentially do the same thing for you.

Well, either dont put your head anywhere near anyone or the best waywould be to not wash your hair till you go on your cruise, head lice love clean hair, they dont like dirty hair.

whats the problem they don't hurt you and they got good medication were you can be free of them in a day or so
