Is it possible to stop growing taller after middle school?!

Question: Is it possible to stop growing taller after middle school?
Back in middle school, I was considered one of the tallest Filipino kids in my middle school (5' 4"-5") then when I reached high school, I've noticed how many of my peers started to outgrow me, even the ones who were shorter than me and I haven't even grown an inch. I found that to be REALLY embarrassing and my ego was shot down. Now I'm 18 years old, turning 19 this July and I'm STILL around 5'4" or 5'5"

I don't understand where I went wrong, I ate healthy like my parents and my family doctor recommended. I have a good posture, I don't slouch when I walk, stand up, nor sit down. I tried my best to get a good 7-9 hours of sleep every night with a few exceptions of forcing myself to stay awake to study for tests and/or finish any homework that needed to finish or to watch a few late night shows. I also exercise frequently here and there by running.

Perhaps it's because I have bad genetics huh? My mom is only 5'1" and my dad is around 5'5"-5'6", probably due to the fact that they weren't born in financially well off in the Philippines and they couldn't eat as much food as they wanted when they were my age. And I'm guessing the fact that they had to walk a mile or two to the local river and back to their houses, carrying a heavy bucket of water must have taken a toll on their height as well.

I suppose I really shouldn't look down on myself for my height. Every time my mom hears me complain about my height, she gets mad at me since my complaining is like telling her that I'm not thankful for what my parents have given me and I guess she's right, I have a lot of things to be thankful for, a nice house, a caring and loving family, and also the fact that I was born a healthy person. With that in mind, I try not to think about my height that much........ but still it would be nice if I could grow to be 5'7" or 5'8" at least. Because no girl wants to date a short guy right? xD (haha I'm still single, probably it's because I focused too much on schooling)

Oh well, I think I'll just move to Japan if I am fortunate enough to get an officer job in the Navy since the girls are cute and not that tall and are around 5'3" - 5'5"

What do you guys think about this?

It is nice to have the option to go elsewhere so that the pool of people you're comparing yourself with is less likely to make you feel deficient.

I have been 5'5" or 6" all my life, it did not keep me from excelling at what I undertake to do. A lot of my people are short, but I feel as though I was the runt of my family on the guys side.

I have a cousin who was a short person, went through operations to lengthen his legs (where they cut the bone and stretch the lower leg by a couple of inches and then the bones reunite, fuse and the guy just gained height and a lot of pain. My cousin was never happy with his appearance, he hung himself, sadly, he did not think he was going to succeed in starting a family... he was single, working in a radio station (he had a beautiful radio voice). What a waste.

You may witness a spur in your growth yet, you have not reached the magical twenty, to mid-twenties, all is not lost. What I would suggest is doing exercises that tend to stretch your body. Go into Yoga, stretch, practice the rings, the parallel bars, swimming. I think running compresses your spine and does not do a lot of good to your joints.

Whatever you decide, make sure the decision is for you and not some outside influence.

Good luck!
