Will being over weight hurt me in the long run?!

Question: Will being over weight hurt me in the long run?
Hi, im a 23 year old male 5'10 inches tall and weigh about 190 pounds, for my height i think im suppose to be 150-180 pounds. Will being 190 make that much of a difference? Or should i aim for about 170? 170 is too small and i look and feel weak at that weight.

Answers:

If you're eating a reasonably healthy diet and getting regular exercise, it's not worth worrying about.

Yes, it will damage your health and shorten your lifespan according to most studies. That one of the reasons that the BMI index was made. Your BMI is 27.3, and that's overweight. 170 lbs would be near the top of the "normal weight" category. That's a healthy weight. As far as looking too small or weak, remember that while football players are strong, they usually have terrible health as they age.

Well I have about one Inch on you as well as about 60 pounds. Like you I want to drop a great deal of it but not bale ot these days at this ag of 54. I know full well that i'm setting my self up for a host of other medical problems such as high blood pressure, diabetes and congested heart and lungs not sure what others . with the cost of things these days even an ambulance ride will double for me if I should need one any time soon.

I can remember when I was getting out of high school I was 150 into the USMC i hit 160 stayed good until I went 100% DAV and now can't keep it off. But I'm working in it. try not to eat that much and get out when I can.

"In the long run" - yes! - You will contract things you never dreamed or heard of.

Stay fit. - 150/160.

Absolutely. Being overweight adds extra stress to the body. And, generally, wht you are doing or have been doing will cause you to continue to gain weight over the long run of life!

Here is a time honored method for weight loss and weight control.
It takes a little more time at the table and some self discipline, but it is the first step.
Most parents since the beginning of time have told their children “Chew your food!'

Unfortunately, they didn”t tell them how well to do it!

They should have told them to chew every bite until it became liquid in their mouth.
Chewing is, obviously, is predigesting your food. The better you do it the happier you stomach will be!

AND! Because it takes a little longer to eat, the appetite triggers in your mind will turn off a heck of a lot quicker.
I have a problem with people I tell this to who say 'I don't have the time to eat like that!'.
Oh, really? You have time for a million other things, but you don't have time to take care of your body?
When you cram your food in and swallow it almost whole, your body says 'Oh. Oh. There must be hard times coming so I had better store as much of this as I can!.'. Check out how sumo wrestlers gain so much weight. The starve themselves alll day long and then gorge at night.
Learning how to eat is step one to weight loss. The second step is to have a plan.
You have to plan what and what to eat. I have looked at many plans and believe me, there is no 100% perfect plan! There is no 'one size fits all'!
However, there are some that are better than others. Check out the following link.

Another thing to keep in mind is in fact your mind. You have a lot of predjuices and belief system that have gotten you to where you are now. Don't look for that one little thing in a plan that will let you rationalize your way into continue what you are doing now!
Finally, never, never follow a plan that starves you!

Best of times!
