why my beard only grows to a certain length?!


Question: Why my beard only grows to a certain length?
im 18 and i want to grow a beard to cover my face because men mistakes me for a girl
it keeps growing at a certain length
i keep shaving it but it grows back really fast in a week time to the same level
why is this and its not really genes my dad and uncles have beards

Beards grow from the hair follicle, and will continue to grow whether you cut it or not. Cutting does not affect the rate of growth which, in men, is about 7" a year.



at last a good question. I noticed this too...i usually shave every 3 weeks because i really don't want to waste my time with it any more than necessary. The lenght reaches it's maximum in about 2 weeks...from them on it doesn't grow at all...or the rate is so slow i don't notice it.
