Is a fever of 102.4 really serious?!

Question: Is a fever of 102.4 really serious?
I went to the nurse today and i was sent home ( i actually left on my own since im already 17) because my temperature is 102.4 F. Is that serious enough for me to go to the doctor? Im not in BIG pain but my back hurts and my body is pretty warm and cold at the same time.

Yes.. You are "sent" to home for a reason. You have to keep it at 98 F to feel better. You gotta take care of yourself. Don't be stubborn.

Fevers are the natural response of a body to heal itself when attacked. They will stimulate the immune system and the elevated temperature will kill the invaders (microbes)! The optimum temperature for a body to kill microbes is
102 - 103F.

If you take aspirin to lower your temperature, you are sending your soldiers back to the fort and letting the enemy last longer than it should.

If you do have a fever you should support yourself by fasting or consuming broths and drinking fluids. Getting as much rest as possible is also a good idea. You may look tired and and feel sluggish, but your body is working hard to heal itself.
