Question on vasectomy?!

Question: Question on vasectomy?
I'm 16 and I want to get a vasectomy, but all the surgeons/doctors state that they will not perform the procedure on me (they didn't give me an exact reason, only vague answers). Why will they not do the operation? It is quite upsetting, so I hope they have a decent excuse.

It is illegal to perform a vasectomy on any man under the age of 18. When you turn 18 you will not need an excuse. If you are refused, then go to the next doctor in the phone book. Do not say crap like, "I hate kids" or "I do not want kids". They will think you are a mental case. Just say, "I want a vasectomy, and yes I know it is permanent". Paying cash also helps ($600-$1000).

Even after you are 18, the provider may refuse you for any number of reasons. Somtimes the doctor or the clinic may be assoicated with a chirch. Other times liability is the issue. If you are the only male son, your family could start a lawsuit. No they will not win, but it will cost the doctor or the clinic big bucks to go to court, etc. That is why I had to go to three different providers to get what I wanted.

I have no children. I had a vasectomy when I was 21. That was almost 25 years ago. I am very happy with it.

You should know what a vasectomy mean,
you should not get one at your age, unless

You know that you are (at 16, I really doubt that you could provide a legal informed consent) at a stage when lots of things are confusing.

Vasectomy, not for young people. As a contraceptive, use a condom instead or even abstinence.

When you turn 18 and you still feel the same way, then you can make the decision. By then, if you have not changed an MD sshould not refuse you if you reason to get one is valid.

Doctors don't always need a "reason" there are legalities, liabilities and in some case the ethical dilemma surrounding such decisions. So, don't blame them, they have enough thing to deal with. The reason they are vague in their response to you is probably because they can,t believe what you are asking for. Are you sure you don't want a circumcision instead and you just got distracted!

that operation has risks like any operation. It is usually performed on men who have had children and who want to remove the chance of pregnancy so a wife can stop birth control. Since that is not likely to be you they would want to look at your reasons for having it done. The operation may not be reversible so they have to consider that.

Hi At this point in time you need to just be a teenager, you only need to think of these sort of things when you are older and needing to make a decision as to whether you should have children or more children. Just enjoy being a teenager.

Your too young wait until your at least 45 you never what will between now and later so wait.
