A fungal infection can be had from many sources. He can get the fungus from you or, he can give you a fungus. It is transmittable by close contact. It isn't an STD though, just a fungus.
Guys get athletes foot and crotch rot(jock itch) from not getting cleaned and dried.
Fungi like warm and moist places. Yeast infections, jock itch, athlete's foot all work the same.
Use the same anti fungals that are used for athletes' foot or your yeast infection and see if your symptoms decrease.
Miconazole, clotrimazole and others work at stopping fungi. they are virtually the same whether for foot or crotch or vagina.

...balls just get itchy a lot. or he might be playing with himself and covering it up by saying he's itchy. i've done it before.

Anything is possible. Seek medical evaluations.

May be crabs or maybe the hairs are re-growing after shaving.. best would be to seek medical attention.

If he shaved his balls that is the problem or he may have crabs.

if he has lots of hair he might have crabs.

Crabs (not an STD). Go to a doctor just to check though
