Man 180 bpm Heart Rate?!

Question: Man 180 bpm Heart Rate?
My father is 71, he has a high heart rate. An ambulance came and he is in hospital now. Anyone have any experience with this please leave below. I'm really worried!

PS: it came on all of a sudden and he has no pain in his heart.

Answers:

tachycardia can be caused by many things in the elderly. Usually it is simply caused by a misfire in the heart easily treated with medications. Sometimes it resolves without meds. Both of my elderly parents have had episodes of this.

It sounds like he is in whats called SVT, I have something called wolff parkinson white syndrome which causes me to have abnormal and a fast heart rhythm it is painless and just makes you feel very giddy and tired, Ive had it since I was 2 weeks old after suffering a heart attack and am now 23, I have never had one since and am now on medication to slow my heart rhythm if the fast heart pace should carry on and he is in SVT they will simply inject your father with a drug that will stop his heart momentarily and restart,he will be awake when they do this, its painless just very uncomfortable as you could imagine. I have had this done numerous times.
I hope this helps :)

bin there done it got the tshirt :)

If a young person was doing excercise like running that would be okay, but for an elderly man it is pretty bad.

"Taching out" is what the ER doctors call it. The term refers to tachycardia, meaning a racing heart, this happens when someone is dying but it can also be caused by a number of things.

If he is not in pain then it could be any number of issues and he may be okay. When somone "tachs out" near death they are already semi concious and in a great deal of pain.

I am sorry to tell you.. but... 180bmp is pretty much near death.
