stomach fat/cortisol/genetics/exercises?!

Question: Stomach fat/cortisol/genetics/exercise…
Ok I have been working out for around 2 months or so. I'll explain my routine. The fight:Lights out of an hour or so, (like wii boxing, but u can duck and weave and stuff too) which is a killer amount of cardio, I also wear 3lbs of wrist weights on each arm. Then I move into ab stuff, I have the ab wheelie thing and I do 30 center, right and left. I've also started to do the pushups where u bring 1 leg up and toward the side. And today I just bought 20lb dumbells to use. And I do all this 3 to 4 times a week

I'm seeing huge results in my arms and shoulders, but not really anything in the ab dept.

I have read up on cortisol, which I guess produces stomach fat. I have laid off the beer. I also read coffee produces cortisol, so this is my 1st full week w/o coffee. I also know depression and stress is the big increaser for cortisol, I am on anti depressants and have been under a lot of stress for a while. I am also 100% korean, adopted, so I do not know about my genetics.

So what I am wondering is if my stomach will tone up, with the same workout i'm doing, if I should change it, or if it is just because of my mental health. I hate my stomach

The thing about belly fat is that you don't get rid of it by doing ab workouts. These things build muscle, but if you're not burning fat your abdomen will just look bigger- fat on top of muscle. You need, need need to do cardio and get your heart rate up to burn fat. The Wii game sounds great, but I would incorporate even more cardio- walking, running/ jogging, biking, swimming are awesome cardio workouts. If you hate to go out- there are a lot of workout videos that focus on cardio. At least 30-45min per day of getting your Heart rate (HR) to 60-80% of your HR max (you can google the formula for figuring out your HR max).

You are so right- cortisol can stimulate the growth of belly fat- cutting out beer and coffee is a great start. drink a lot of water and I highly suggest yoga for stress. Make sure you are paying attention to your diet as well.
