hernia check, kneels in front?!

Question: Hernia check, kneels in front?
is it normal for a doc to kneel in front of you to check for hernia? im just curious because thats how a doc checked me at the hospital, in a ''*******'' position for lack of better term, sorry. im just wondering if they check for hernias in different positions of the patient like standing and laying down.

Yes actually that can be normal, especially if he is at least as tall as you. You need to be standing at some point when being checked for a hernia, and sometimes its hard to get low enough to get your finger up under and near the inguinal ligament if you are doing it to someone just as tall/shorter than you are, so you can kneel (though I might have preferred just taking a knee myself). Medicine can be awkward sometimes, but its for your health, don't hate on him.

I'm a medical student.

Uhhhhh - was the doctor Oriental?

I've never had one 'kneel' in front of me to check for a hernia.
