Im addicted to porn/masturbating?!

Question: Im addicted to porn/masturbating?
I am 17 now almost 18 and everyday I am looking at porn. I stated at the age of 11 I think I was just curious because my friends told me about it. The longest I can remember for stopping is like five day but it might have been a full week.

When I cant get to a computer at night I do it in bed using my thoughts. I kinda get mad at myself because I know its not good for me to be wasting it all. I don't know why I do it so much well besides it feels good. I don't know if having adhd has anything to do with it or not. I don't know if it has anything to do with making myself feel better for the lack of well manhood I have. I just want to stop doing it as much any tips on how to stop. Thanks

Matt,
Realizing there is a challenge is half the battle. The best way to break the cycle is first to avoid having private time with your computer. If that means moving into a public area of the house then so be it.
Second is distraction. When you start getting horned up and wanting to w@nk, throw on some trackies and go run or lift weights, or play soccer.
Third, normal w@nking off is fine, just make sure you are already hard when you start. Do not stroke your self hard then get off. Usigng your mind is fine, but focus on times with real girls instead of the screen memories.
Fourth, find some information about how to kick an addiction. When guys orgasm, they release a chemical into the blood that is very close to opium. Kick this addiction the same way that others kick cocaine or heroin.
Good luck.

I doubt seriously that you have ADHD. Only 5% of the people claiming to have or diagnosed with it actually have it. Regardless, it has no connection to your plight. You're wanking your willy because you are 17. Every other 17 year old you see, male and female, is doing the exact same thing. You're perfectly normal. Just hope that when you have your first experience with a girl, you don't go to a corner by yourself and masturbate!

Hm. I think you're no worse off than the majority of single men in this country. Some are way worse than that.

It's done out of boredom and the feel-good factor. I don't think you're addicted, though.

To stop, scribble something on the hand you w@nk with- STOP! (in bold red or black) should do it.

Porn and masturbating is a way of life! There's no sense in stopping and sooner rather than later, you'll have a girl to do it with, instead of wishing you were that guy in the vid!

At your age that sounds pretty normal to me. You are indeed lucky to have the internet. In my youth we had to make due with the rare contraband skin mag or maybe vhs if we were really lucky. Other than that it was all imagination.

Most time i do when bored. So find something to do when you got nothing to do! Like record or buy tv series and watch when nothing to do, or draw, listen music ect...?. And ur not 'addicted', its normal... I do it do. Most days twice a day :). Aged 15

you are so lucky to have the internet....

I just had a bunch of old playboys and had to use my imagination a whole lot more.

Totally normal, just dont beat it raw, just in case you get real action!

you just need a hot friend or lover to take care of all that..

Sex is not inherently bad. In-fact, many medical professions believe sex is actually quiet healthy. Many women do masturbate despite having a partner. However, obsessive compulsive behavior is bad. Sex addiction is any form of behavioral dependency, that is of a sexual natural. So, compulsive sex or even masturbation, can be considered a form of sex addiction. The behavior associated with searching-for and consuming pornography or partners, can also be seen as a form of sex addiction.

Addiction can either be a chemical dependency or a behavioral dependency. Sex, Masturbation and pornography, while considered a behavioral dependency, are also a biochemical dependency. True, it is human nature to enjoy sex, however, not everyone can properly moderate the desire, or amount of sex they have. Addiction is a disease and it directly effects the moderation control, found in the frontal lobe, of the brain.

The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV) is used by both psychologists and psychiatrists for diagnosing disorders, such as substance dependence, which is essentially what addiction is. The DSM-IV offers seven criteria for substance dependence.

The seven criteria for substance dependence are:

(1) Tolerance, as defined by either of the following:

(a) A need for markedly increased amounts of the substance to achieve intoxication or desired effect.

(b) Markedly diminished effect with continued use of the same amount of the substance.

(2) Withdrawal, as manifested by either of the following: (a) The characteristic withdrawal syndrome for the substance (refer to Criteria A or B of the criteria sets for Withdrawal from specific substances). (b) The same (or a closely related) substance is taken to relieve or avoid withdrawal symptoms.

(3) The substance is often taken in larger amounts or over a longer period than was intended.

(4) There is a persistent desire or unsuccessful efforts to cut down or control substance use. (Unmanageable)

(5) A great deal of time is spent in activities necessary to obtain the substance (such as visiting multiple doctors or driving long distances), use the substance (such as chain smoking) or recover from its effects.

(6) Important social, occupational, or recreational activities are given up or reduced because of substance use.

(7) The substance use is continued despite knowledge of having a persistent or recurrent physical or psychological problem that is likely to have been caused or exacerbated by the substance.

Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous has created a 40-Question Self-Diagnosis Questionnaire to help you determine if you have an addiction. You can find it here: http://www.slaafws.org/download/core-fil…

Try not to be too critical of yourself. The more you criticize yourself, the more you will want to numb the pain associated with feeling criticized. You may turn to sex, or masturbation, to numb that pain. It becomes a vicious circle. Sometimes masturbation is less about enjoyment, and more about coping. Its about intent. Sometimes we are unable to see our true intent. If you are unsure of your own true intent, try abstaining for a period of time, and try to gain some clarity. If you feel you have good intention and are not an addict, then you can return to masturbating.

If you would like to get more information, or begin sex addiction recovery, you can choose from many different sources. SLAA, is the oldest of the sex addiction recovery programs. It is both free and anonymous. Those who lead these programs, are also addicts and can provide you with first-hand relatable experience, strength and hope.
