Is Condom Distribution Smart Health Policy?!

Question: Is Condom Distribution Smart Health Policy?
On March 17, 2009, Pope Benedict stood before a group of reporters and said that condom distribution not only wouldn’t cure the AIDS crisis, it actually makes it worse. These comments reignited a long-simmering debate over the proper place of contraceptives in health and social policy. Does condom distribution actually encourage promiscuity and increase health risks, or is it effective public policy?

Answers:

The Catholic church is not smart. It took them until 1993 to admit the earth was round (500 years after the discovery), they are constantly defending paedophile priests from justice, they preach that it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of god while they sleep comfortably in their vatican palaces.

But above of that, this is the worst. AIDS kills about 2 million a year, and instead of giving sound scientific medical advice, they claim that condoms make the problem of AIDS worse. Stupid advice to a non-educated nation means disaster, and it's their fault.

Catholic church: For humanity's sake, keep your irrational, misinformative, closed-minded, bigoted beliefs to yourself. You're killing people! I am ashamed that we as a species still have the catholic church in our world. Are we getting at the age of reason any time soon?

If young people ware educated about the dangers of sexually transmitted diseases, and the consequences of teenage pregnancies, that by itself would prevent promiscuity to great extent.

But the easy way of saying "they will do it anyways" and give teens condoms, contraceptive pills & abortions.. is what conservative Americans are opposed to.

Then the liberals will criticizes the conservatives, the church and, of course, the Pope, because he is number one blank of attack of all whose morals has been lost since the sexual revolution of the 60s and 70s. We must go back to basis.

As opposed to what? doing nothing? Obviously, it's good public policy to encourage the use of condoms. Used properly and consistently, a condom is about 100% effective in preventing STDs and unwanted pregnancies. (please note, I said PROPERLY AND CONSISTENTLY). People will always have sex. Why not make it safe?

Better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it...

Absolutely...sometimes I wonder what planet the poop is living on....people are going to have sex. period. might as well make sure it is safe sex.

seeing 100% yes is restoring my faith in humanity
