Going to the mall with your buddy to buy clothes isn't gay unless he goes into the dressing room with you to try stuff on. Make sure you come out to him to make sure the clothes look ok.
Alex is right, if there's three, you cant be a couple. So just tell your friends if they wanna go, if they can tell your mom you going out with your friends.
It would not be gay to go shopping with your friend unless you held hands while shopping.
Easy. Go with two guys. Problem solved. I've seen guys at the mall together and never thought it was gay looking (unless they both look gay).
You are in the same group as every other young teen/preteen person. As a parent I wonder what on earth my daughter was thinking some times. I just scratch my head and grin, her mom on the other hand will make her rethink a few choices.
Now to your solution. Those stores you mention are definitely more pricier than sams club. You will need to figure out some sort of expense agreement with your mom if you are not going to use only your own allowance. For example. FIRST find some buddies you would want to shop with and make plans to do so. Second say mom I need a few things at the mall and this amount of money should cover it. Then ask her if she could drop the guys off and come back in a few hours. If you are totally against mom buying your school clothes. You can make an agreement with mom to shop for clothes at your choice of store as long as you stay on this budget. If you shop sales you can do ok at the mall just tell her ok mom I will spend 20.00 on ea pair of this or what ever. At walmart it would cost about the same. BTW I will take my teen daughter to Goodwill to shop for jeans that she wants to "trash" etc. I wont pay premium prices for them.. GW has great bargins and everyone comes out happy~
BTW your mom is well aware you are a young man and has needs. Depending on your financial situation it maybe just a matter of making an agreement on budget. Guys going shopping isn't gay unless its for wedding bands for one another!!! EVERYONE needs underwear, toilet paper, etc.
