First time at the gym locker room :S (Guys)?!

Question: First time at the gym locker room :S (Guys)?
Ok, it is my first time going to the gym this week and haven't got nude in a locker room openly since I was about five and in a swimming class. Anyways, I have written a load of things below which I don't know whether to do or not as am going to go with friends plus my dad invited me along.....
-Should I go nude to the shower or should I wear a towel?
-Should I have conversations with people whilst in the showers/locker room?
-Should I take a nude shower?
-Should I clean thouroughly or just rinse off?
-Is farting/burping openly acceptable in locker room/shower as my friend apparently has farting competitions and stuff after a game of rugby?
-What should I do if I see someone I know (i.e. teacher)?
-Should I wear anything on my feet?
-Finally, do you think I should go along with my dad and his friend to the gym or is that too far?

Answers:

Starting with your last question first, many lads first encounter a gym locker room with their dad. This is helpful because he will know the ropes and be able to answer the sort of questions you have posed here.

Next, you should know that after gym, sports or swimming you should ALWAYS take a shower if at all possible. You need to remove sweat and any dirt or chlorinated water from yourself before dressing in your normal clothes. Failure to shower will cause you to smell bad until you do so. If you've been swimming then the chlorine in the water will rot your clothes as well as eventually damaging your skin - possibly even bringing you out in a rash.

It is perfectly acceptable to go nude to and from the shower. However you should take your towel with you so as to be able to remove most of the water from your body before returning to the locker area - you shouldn't take water back there to soak the floor!

Showers should ALWAYS be taken nude, whether one is in an individual cubicle or an open room with several shower heads. You cannot clean yourself properly if you still have some clothing on.

After working up a sweat in the gym, or getting yourself covered in chlorinated water in the pool, you should always wash thoroughly with soap and water, including your pubic area. If uncircumcised you need to retract your foreskin to wash under it too.

It is perfectly ok to chat to those you came with, or friends you have made over time at the gym, whilst you shower and change. However, if the showers are individual cubicles do not shout from one to another as making a lot of noise is bad etiquette.

If you should happen to see somebody you know then simply acknowledge their presence as you would if you passed them in the street. Don't either try to quickly cover yourself up nor stare at their private parts. You all have the same bits (just some are larger than others!) and so there is no need to be embarrassed.

Farting or burping may be unable to be controlled, but should never be deliberately done in a public place. Your friend would be very wrong to do this at a public gym. However, it is not unusual for the close knit group of a rugby team to play silly/rude games in the privacy of their own changing room and shower!

Whilst most gyms have no rules on the subject, a very small number of them prefer folk to wear 'beach shoes' and you can definitely do so if you prefer whilst walking to/from the shower. However remember that you cannot wash your feet properly whilst they are inside shoes of any kind. Also you will have to take the wet shoes home, so will need a waterproof bag if you do wear them.

My own experience at three different public gyms.

if its a public pool...

wear a towel
no, that is just weird
NO!
just rinse, its easier to do at home
depends on who in the room with u
dont look at them, get away fast
if u have the water shoes it will protect your feet
it is safer, u never know what kind of people go there

logic

Wow do many questions with so little time lol but here goes. A shower is for washing nude..I would not wear a towel...Its not necessary to carry on a conversation while showering...yes take a nude shower and wear flip flops on ur feet so u don't get athethets feet...if u see someone u know just say "hey how's it hangin" lol and if ur comfortable showering with ur dad and friends do it..ur dad certainly knows what u look like...but I'd stay away from the farting part lol and yes clean thouroughly including ur balls, dick and butt hole, just like u do at home. Any more questions?

Need to spend a lot more time around home nude so you aren't so self conscious. Do what other guys do in the locker room. Towels are worn in some locker rooms, others everyone is nude. Go with the flow. No reason you would not be nude around your dad at all, should have done that a lot more and your dad should have taken you swimming and stuff when younger and gotten you used to being nude. Definitely take a shower if you need one, and wash well. NEVER wear underwear in the shower, that is weird. You shower nude at home I hope, do the same elsewhere. Yes you can fart and burp. Unlikely you'll see anyone you know, but so what if you do. No reason to wear anything on your feet the shampoo in the shower kills most of the germs

- Do what you want it doesn't matter although I think you are going to look really stupid trying to take a shower with a towel on.
- Do what you want.
- Do what you want but again it's going to look really stupid if you are taking a shower anything but naked.
- Do what you want. But what's the point of going in a shower if you aren't going to clean yourself?
- Do what you want.
- Do what you want
- Do what you want
- Do what you want.

Seriously all these questions don't matter, DO WHAT EVER YOU WANT.
There is no unwritten locker room rules or anything just do what you feel comfortable with. Also why are you acting like you HAVE to do this? I don't use locker rooms when I got to the gym because I don't like being naked in front of anyone but someone I'm dating. You don't have to get naked or shower in a locker room if you don't want to. Go home and shower.
