anxiety and depression...desperate?!

Question: Anxiety and depression...desperate?
i am 25 and have struggled with anxiety and depression for as long as i can remember. its not going away. counselors are not helping. i cannot do things for myself. i cannot make friends. i cannot date or talk to girls. i cannot better myself in any way. i have no mental stamina or confidence. i dont know how to get any of these things...no matter how much i force myself. i have thoughts of death. i feel like i am in an inescapable prison. i jsut created a facebook page and aded a bunch of random people so i'd have someone to talk to. thats how bad this is...

for the first time in my life i am truly scared i am going to die this way.....a wasted life.

Instead of saying a cannot say "I chose not to". You can't make friends if you get off your butt and do it. It's not because you aren't able, it's because you chose not to.

Depression is a serious thing, I struggle with it myself but only you can make yourself better, not anyone else. You can't exspect to ever be happy if you make the decision to be sad everyday, and trust me you can make the decision. You can chose to be positive about everything or negative about everything. You chose to use the word cannot.... obviously you are physically able like everyone else to make friends, date, go out and have fun, etc. You just chose to sit at home and not do it. Start taking personal responsibility for your life rather than blame it on your depression.
Go out one night to a group therapy session for people with depression, try meeting someone, try doing SOMETHING. Go to the gym, go to the library, go see movies, anything to get yourself in a better mood.

You are in control of your life much more than you think you are. Also you have to make the decision to be happy, even if it means faking you are happy. You can't exspect to make friends when you act like a miserable person all the time. It makes other people depressed and drags them into your hole of self pitty... not fun. What you want is for your friends to bring you up and improve your mood.

You should be in counciling too, see a therapist on a weekly basis, whether you think so or not it really does help. It helps having someone to talk to that actually understands what you are doing through and can help you.

Like you said, the depression isn't going away so you have to learn how to control it rather than control YOU. Seriously go to the gym, force yourself. Excercise has really helped me when I get into my really deep depressive episodes. It's a way to release stress. Excercise also helps with neurotransmitters in the brain that improve mood.
Make sure you are eating a healthy diet, not junk. Diet actually care really have a bad effect on depression. So make sure you are eating your 3 meals a day, or not over eating.

It took me a year or two before I could learn how to cope with my depression. Just because it doesn't work over night doesn't mean it won't ever work at all. You have to completely change how you look at the world and how you cope with it.

maybe you have not seen the right doctor to help get your chemical level in your body balanced. There is aways hope, many people feel as you at times, but you have to pull from deep with in you, and rise above it..when i feel down i read the bible in the books of the psalms..and pray that God will help you through..

In the first place just because someone has the credentials , counselors, etc. Please don't assume they know what they are doing or their particular advise is suited you. Don't treat these people like they walk on water. Remember the medical field is composed of "practicing" physicians. So change counselors if need be. Heck I went through four Urologists until I found one that thinks and acts like I think they should and he is 120 miles round trip from my home!

You don't have the time to be scared! You are on a mission to find someone to help you with your problems. And remember also just because someone recommends a dr. doesn't mean he will be right for you and your circumstances.
