Im a athlete and I fractured my fifth metatarsal two times in past 5-6 months. The first time was a stress fracture. The second time, I twisted my ankle and I managed to fracture my fifth metatarsal and my ankle.
The orthopedic Sergeant said that I need surgery. He said that I need to have a pin placed inside of my foot. He is one of the best in the world. He is first or second best in my country. He works on the pro basketball players here in my country.

i can not say how long ou wil be in the hosptal, and my gues is your docter can only give you an estiment becuase everyone heals at a differnt rate, but do not worry they will definitly use anistesia and you shouldent be in very much pain becuase they will put you on narcotics.
