Health Advice If Any...?!

Question: Health Advice If Any...?
Well, I don't know if I should visit the Emergency Room since I don't have medical insurance yet. But it kind of started when I kept getting really bad headaches a few nights ago, and now I have a sore throat and chest pain; I don't know if its muscle but it has some sharp pain here and there... Still having headaches once in a while, is there any home remedies or what else could I do or what you guys could recommend? Thanks in advance. I am 24 years old if that helps too.

Answers:

I'd say the headaches were the beginning of a sinus headache and may be a sinus infection by now. The sore throat and chest pain indicate a bad cold. Do you cough a lot? That would cause chest pain. An upper respiratory infection (sinus infection & cold) would cause chest pain as well. Home remedies: You need a decongestant for the headaches. The sinuses are dried up and decongestants will open up the sinuses. You may also need antibiotics if it isn't better in 4 or 5 days. For a sore throat gargle with warm salt water several times a day. You can take cold medication off the shelf but make sure it has a decongestant in it. An antihistamine is ok in a cold medicine but you also need a decongestant. I like Mucinex D, or Advil cold & sinus, I think they are the best on the market but where I live you have to get it from the pharmacy. You can take Tylenol for the headache or sinus pills but don't take all the medications at once. Sleep is good when you don't feel good. It helps the body heal faster. Plenty of fluids, not much caffeine, lite foods to eat for a while till the throat feels better and cold things to eat & drink will help with the pain and any fever. Popsicles, juice, sherbet, ice chips, melons, fruits, fat free soups, lots of cold drinks with ice in them. All this helps the pain and any swelling of the throat. If you still have the headaches or they get worse in 4-5 days see a Dr for antibiotics. Nasal spray is good for 3 days if you have any stuffiness and a humidifier or vaporizer at night with Vick's will help open the sinuses. Feel better soon.

sounds like the flu. nothing to worry about at your age. advil or tylenol can help with the pain and also a fever if you have one. halls (i dont remember what the flavour is called but its in a black package and the drop is white with little green dots in it) is the best for sore throat.

I'd normally just say take some Asprin, and some Ny/DayQuil, but if you are exercising the muscle too much, then relax a day.

Or if there is something else, then please tell me, 'cause my father has had just about everything from Lyme Disease, to the flu.

Go online - type in - 'Free Medical Clinics - your city & state' - a page should pop up indicating Free Medical Clinics in your city or one nearby that are manned by medical doctors that donate their time one or two days a week to help folks that have no insurance.
