How to shave for the first time?!

Question: How to shave for the first time?
im 13 and i think its about time i start shaving. id rather do it on my own, then have my dad teach me. i recieved a gilette razor and shaving gel kit as a gift not long ago...how do i use a razor without cutting myself?

Answers:

Gentle pressure with repeat strokes.

Shave in the direction of the hair growth, not against and dont drag the razor back and forth.

Never slide the razor to the side and be very careful under your nose.

Shave in the shower since hat water softens the beard growth.

If you are talking about shaving the pubes I suggest you don't do it.

Dylan,
I don't understand what is going on with your Dad, but don't you think he might want to help you? It is kind of a Dad thing that Dad's wait to do with their sons. You should time your shower in the morning just right to end up at about his shave time, bring your stuff, and then just ask him to show you. a weekend morning might work better. A lot of Dads consider helping their sons a rite of passage just as you do using the razor for the first time!

If you insist on doing it yourself:

Shaving is all about preparation, and the tools/materials you use.
Prep.=tons of hot water,, a hot shower, or hot wash cloths.
Most shave cream crap-in-a-can is soap based which dries and irritates your skin. You need a shave gel or cream that is moisturizer based and filled with lubricants.
Try King of Shave Alpha Gel or Clinique Shaving Cream.
You do not need or want those way over-priced 5 and 6 blade razors. A simple disposable two blade razor works great and saves $$$$.
Do not shave a zit ever! It turns your razor into a bacteria spreader. The Alpha Gel is clear so you can easily miss those bumps.
Always, Always shave with the grain or direction of beard growth. If you have a problem area, you at best should shave across the grain. NEVER against!
Finish your shave by rinsing well in luke warm water and lightly applying an oil-free moisturizer. This prevents your skin from cranking into overdrive to replace the skin oils removed by shaving.
Shaving takes time, and should be enjoyed.

How is this such a big deal? I learned just from seeing people do it, all it is is washing your face then put shaving cream on and shave, just don't shave too hard.

It's easy - It's hard to cut yourself unless your rough. Just be gentle and use clean strokes. It's really easy :)

Good luck.

hot water and shave in the same direction as the growth. Splash your face with cold water afterwards to close the pores.

Umm make sure u use shaving cream so it will be easy to do it without cutting you.
