High blood pressure for a 19 year old male?!

Question: High blood pressure for a 19 year old male?
I went to the doctor yesterday, 'cause I was sick. Anyways, she took my blood pressure and it read 132 over 81. She said this was high for my age and I will have to return in a month.

Answers:

Your slightly elevated blood pressure may be reactive because of your recent sickness (I'm assuming you had a viral process like a cold). Do you have a family history of elevated blood pressure which appear at young age? If a month from now it is still elevated, your doctor will probably work you up for causes for secondary hypertension (thyroid conditions, or issues with your kidney's blood vessel... to name a few).

First of all take it serious because being young you can actually work on it and keep it from getting worse which will cause other problems as you get older. Look at your diet, what you eat and drink. You would be surprised at how much sodium is everything we eat and drink before we even add any. Good luck and take care of your health, we only get one shot so make the best of it.

In the meantime, look at foods containing sodium, and their amounts. Take the salt shaker off your dining table. Consume less sodium foods or consume sodium free foods and drinks.

theres medication they can prescribe to bring the readings down

No one can tell you your freakin blood pressure....

smoke weed, its good for that
