will you lose your job even if you had a drink the night before say 2pints and are a completely fine the same day and the day you work because it seems a bit harsh to lose your job straight away even if you are a good employee.

You should be asking your employer their restrictions and requirements.

If you are 21+ obviously they can't fire you for excercising your right to drink. As long as you aren't drinking on the job.
However I guess that if your job requires you to be a non-drinker which a buisness owner I guess could wrightfully request of his employees then yes you can get fired.

Well if your boss tells you that you can't drink any alcohol even off the job it's not harsh for you to get fired for a rule that you knowingly broke. That's on YOU not your your boss. Try taking responsibility for your own actions like an adult.
