Question: Can puberty make you depressed?
im a 16 yr old guy and ever since i hit puberty i get depressed for no reason and i always used to be a very happy person. can hormones be doing this?? and dont worry i would never try to commit suicide.

Answers:

Yes, Bubba - and that's just ONE of the issues you will be faced with.
Your male hormones are raging from one end of the spectrum to the other, trying to figure out where to settle down. This can cause - depression, anxiety, stress, attitudes, mood swings, fear, doubt, animosity, anger, issues with buddies or girls, issues with parents or siblings, increased appetite, loss of appetites, excess energy, loss of energy, fatigue, too much sleep, not enough sleep, unexpected or unexplained sexual arousals, etc, just to mention a few things. Most guys handle all these issues reasonably well - but some do not - and must learn to deal with them in a more positive manner.
Just try to eat healthy, get plenty of fresh air, sunshine & exercise & get 8 hours sleep each nite - and you will somehow make it thru with not too many scars. Each person must wait their turn to complete development - and you are no exception. Genetics rule - you cannot re-program genetics.
Life is not always the way it's supposed to be. It's just the way it is. The way you cope with it is what makes the difference.

Not to fear Nick. The hormone attack can wreak havoc on your entire body and mind. Physically and emotionally. There can be extreme highs and lows along the way. Unfortunately it is just part of the course. Thankfully tho, at 16 Nick, you are getting close to the end of the roller coaster ride.
Try and surround yourself with friends and family and have a good time. There is nothing wrong with being sad, but make the best out of every situation that you can.
The years of puberty are time for change. Hairs sprouting, body's changing and emotions run wild. Don't be afraid man, we've all been thru it. You will come out on top of it.

Hope this helps you a bit man. Good Luck!
