My dad had a vasectomy but it failed and I was born, could I be missing a chromo!
Question: My dad had a vasectomy but it failed and I was born, could I be missing a chromosome or somthing?
Answers:
No, a vasectomy does not affect the quality of sperm, just the ability for it to be delivered.
A failed vasectomy only means that your fathers sperm was delivered to your mothers womb.
And it's probably not that you are "not that smart", maybe it's just that you aren't as learned.
Read books and stuff! It sharpens the mind.
OK, please do not take this the wrong way. I am not trying to insult you but it may explain some things
Perhaps that particular sperm cell that made it wasn;t as good as it could be. it is less the chromosomes and more the condition of the sperm cell, that it had to struggle to break free that it could have been one of those 'sluggish' ones
Vasectomies do not cause abnormal chromosome number. People with missing chromosomes die in infancy. Some people can have extra chromosomes due to a mutation, but that is very rare. If you study more and exercise your brain you will become smarter.
A vasectomy only blocks the sperm cells. Nothing changes in the chromosomes.
