Ok, so like my voice is really deep?!

Question: Ok, so like my voice is really deep?
And I am also mono-toned, and people keep telling me that the really deep voice + mono-toned is hard to listen to.

So like is my voice really deep from testosterone (since it deepens it?)
Cuz then it's like bragging rights like "I produce more testosterone then you, so HA! Mr. Estrogen" or something like that. So testosterone is why my voice is deep, right?

Answers:

Be a radio talking guy then, they always seem to have deep voices ahahaha

Nope. Level of testosterone has almost nothing to do with it, except that it is the presence of testosterone that causes your voice to mature. A man with a tenor voice could have more testosterone in his system than a bass. This is like the myth that more hair means more testosterone (or it means you ate more vegetables as a kid). Actually, it's entirely to do with your genes. So your DNA says "low voice." Not so much to brag about, huh?

In fact, you could damage your voice by talking in your lowest register all the time. Speech therapists recommend speaking in the middle of your register, and allowing your voice to move around from high to low. I have a friend who needed surgery on his larynx because he wanted to sound like he had a lower voice than he really did. Now he has to talk as high as he can to avoid further surgery.
